Pilates and physiotherapy. Are you already familiar with it? At Actifytaal in Utrecht we strongly believe in the added value of pilates within physiotherapy. Pilates is practiced at all levels and is therefore very accessible. We work on the strength and control of core stability, but also on the balance between body and mind. “At Actifytaal Physiotherapy in Utrecht we offer a 6-week ‘Introduction to Pilates’ course . Prior to this course, an intake takes place in which we check the tension of the transversus abdominus, or deep abdominal muscle. We do this by placing the ultrasound on your stomach. This makes it visible what you need to do at the base to activate your ‘powerhouse’ without tying it down.”
Listen to your body
After this intake, we will continue to build on the basics in the course over a period of 6 weeks, with the aim of giving you confidence in your body. You also get good control over the basic muscles and you learn where your physical limits currently lie. At the end of the 6 weeks you could take regular pilates classes. During that course there is still a chance that you will reach your own limit. Listen to this, because this will prevent you from falling back into an old pattern. We will then tailor a special program to you. This way we make it accessible to everyone.
